After the family relocated from Újpalota to another district on the outskirts of Budapest in 2001, he became friends with Martin Mikolai, which led to his introduction to a wide range of electronic and electro-acoustic music. They began collecting records, learned to DJ, familiarized themselves with music-making software to create music together, and obsessively attended events, especially those curated by Balázs Pándi, the Hungarian drummer forming a duo with Merzbow, with whom they later became friends. Gábor actively DJ-ed, performed, and made music in Budapest from the age of 16.
In 2010, he was admitted to the University of Pécs, where he studied Electronic Music and Media Arts. During these years, he started a label with Gergő Szinyova, a highly acclaimed Hungarian painter. Meanwhile, he performed abroad several times, where he met Russell Haswell and collaborated on a split cassette released on Last Foundation in 2013. Gábor’s music caught the attention of Lorenzo Senni, who invited him to release an album on Presto!? in 2013. As a result, Conor Thomas from Boomkat invited Gábor to join The Death Of Rave, where he released EP16, about which Secret Thirteen wrote: “With his challenging, dynamic, and strictly mathematical composing style varying between extreme academism and some kind of reasonable musical barbarism, Gábor is currently building a future of electronic music.” Bleep.com described it as: “The minimal, fragmented improvisations are challenging sketches that sound like an utterly rhythmic deconstruction of noise music, footwork, and techno at once." Norman Records wrote that “Imagine a Robert Hood CD glitched up to fuck spewing out manic stuttering grooves that morph and warp into constantly evolving new shapes, and you're somewhere towards imagining what 'EP6' sounds like, but it's far more sophisticated than that.”
In 2014, Gábor met Mark Fell, and they recorded their collaborative album in three days in Budapest, titled "The Neurobiology Of Moral Decision Making." The album was listed by Rolling Stone Magazine as #11 of the 20 Best Avant Albums Of 2015 and #3 of 100 Boomkat’s Favorite Albums of 2015. It received widespread recognition and was played multiple times by Aphex Twin at different festivals, including Field Day London 2017. Norman Records described it as "some of the most rhythmically radical and seizure-inducing futurist electronica being made on earth right now."
In 2018, Gábor released his highly acclaimed album called "Unfold," created with the intention to return to his origins rooted in making techno and DJing. It was rated #7 by Fact Magazine's Top 50 Albums, #29 by DJ Mag’s Top 50 Albums, #24 by Quietus’s Top 100 Albums, and #30 by Boomkat’s Top 100 Albums of 2018.
In 2020, Gábor joined Planet Mu and released his next album "Source" as a continuation of "Unfold."
Gábor's seventh studio album, "Boundary Object," collects eight tracks of his works released by Planet Mu. According to Pitchfork, “Lázár’s sound is rawer in concept than his peers’, and manipulated with an implacable, impressive fussiness most producers would never attempt. But what truly sets him apart is something both universal in appeal and organic in spirit: he uses his art, in all its permutations, in order to be himself”. The album was listed by allmusic.com as one of the Favorite Electronic Albums of 2022.
