[Texto disponível apenas em inglês] Conceived as part of an international Art & Science residency, launched by ClimatEurope2 and the Belgrade
Science Promotion Centre, Breathing is a performance installation where video, sound, and light intertwine to
make climate data visible and tangible, in collaboration with the Belgrade Meteorological Centre.
The concept is based on a poetic and critical staging: data from climate services are juxtaposed with figurative
elements, revealing their causes and consequences. The viewer thus journeys through a visual and sonic narrative
constructed in several chapters: a gentle introduction that presents so-called «classic» situations, a plunge
into our contemporary era and its tensions, and then a projection toward possible futures, where the acceleration
of climate disruption becomes palpable.
The scenography is based on a double screen: on the left, raw data (weather, pollution, temperatures, etc.)
scroll by in various forms; on the right, their visual translations in 3D renderings, evocative metaphors for the
impacts. This installation is accompanied by a soundscape, punctuated by
a gradually accelerating heartbeat, and enhanced by colored LED strips that
project luminous atmospheres synchronized with the image and sound.
Between contemplation and alert, Breathing unfolds an immersive experience that highlights
the climate emergency. The work leads to a kind of sensory overload, before concluding with an
optimistic perspective: a regulation of climate degradation emphasizing the collective use of climate data.
